Google, Sony want to change how we watch with Web TV

Google has conquered Web search. Now it wants to bring the Web to high-definition television.
With Google TV coming in the fall, the Silicon Valley giant hopes to succeed in an area where many — including Apple and Yahoo— so far have failed.
To pull off this major change in living rooms, Google must persuade consumers to buy a new TV from Sony or a set-top box from Logitech. Pricing wasn’t announced, but Google engineer Rishi Chandra says the devices will be sold at a slight premium. “If you offer a compelling product, people will spend the money to get it,” he says.
