Spammers adjust to security trends

Last fall, Henry Stern, a senior security researcher for Cisco Systems, got a social-network request from someone claiming to be a colleague, asking to become part of Stern’s network.
Stern checked Cisco’s employee directory before approving the connection. The “colleague” did not exist. Had Stern allowed the request to go through, the hacker might have gained access to a list of company contacts.
